Your portfolio is your proof
A portfolio answers the question a business is already asking: βCan this person really do the job?β A sentence saying you are talented is not enough. A business wants to see examples. That is why Kointent gives creators a portfolio area for work samples.
Think of your portfolio as a shop window. You do not put every item you own in a shop window. You choose the products that make customers want to enter. Your portfolio should do the same. Pick work that shows your strongest skills and the kind of jobs you want more often.
Start with three strong projects
If you have no portfolio yet, do not wait until you have twenty projects. Start with three. A graphic designer might create a restaurant flyer, a fashion social post and a simple brand identity. A photographer might show product photography, portraits and event work. A video editor could show a short product video, a talking-head edit and a social media reel.
You can also create sample projects when you do not yet have paying clients. Just label them honestly as personal or sample work. Do not present a practice project as work completed for a real company. Honesty makes your portfolio stronger, not weaker.
Write useful project descriptions
A portfolio image alone does not tell the whole story. Explain what the project was about, what you did and what the result was. Keep the explanation simple. For example: βI designed a mobile-friendly Instagram campaign for a small food business. The goal was to make the menu easier to understand and encourage WhatsApp orders.β
If you have permission to share a result, include it. Maybe the client received more enquiries or used the design for a successful launch. Do not invent statistics. A real simple result is better than a fake impressive number.
Use the Kointent media features well
The portfolio system can hold multiple images and video for a project. Use that space to tell a complete story. If you designed a website, show the homepage and important inner pages. If you made a product video, show a short preview and explain the role you played.
Keep file quality reasonable. Very large images can make pages slow, especially on mobile data. Crop images so the important part is easy to see. Use clear names and descriptions. Your goal is to help an advertiser understand your ability without making them work too hard.
Show the kind of client you want
Your portfolio influences the jobs people associate with you. If you want restaurant design work, show restaurant designs. If you want fashion content, show fashion examples. If you want business video editing, show business video examples.
This is especially useful for new creators. Instead of saying βI can do anythingβ, choose one or two areas where you can become known. You can expand later. A clear profile is easier to remember than a profile that lists every possible skill.
Keep your profile and portfolio consistent
Your portfolio should support what your profile says. If your profile says you are a photographer but every portfolio project is a graphic design, an advertiser may become confused. Make sure your title, description, skills and samples tell the same story.
Also update your portfolio as your skills improve. Replace weaker samples with stronger ones. If you complete a real Kointent gig and you are allowed to display the work, consider adding it. Over time, the portfolio becomes a record of your growth.
Use your portfolio when applying
When you apply for a gig, do not simply write βPlease select meβ. Refer to a relevant project. If the gig is for a food brand, mention the food or restaurant work in your portfolio. If it is for a video campaign, point to your video examples.
This saves the advertiser time. They can immediately see why your application matches the brief. A good application plus a good portfolio can be more convincing than a long message full of promises.
Build for the long term
A portfolio is not something you finish once. Every few months, review it. Remove work that no longer represents your level. Add new projects. Improve descriptions. Make sure links still work. Check how your profile looks on a phone.
Your goal is to reach the point where a business can open your Kointent profile and quickly understand who you are, what you do, what you charge when relevant, and what your work looks like. That clarity can turn a profile visit into a real business conversation.
A portfolio checklist before you apply
Before applying for a gig, open your public profile as if you were the advertiser. Can you understand what you do in ten seconds? Are your best three projects near the top? Do the images load? Are the descriptions clear? Is there any sample that looks unfinished or unrelated? Remove weak work if necessary. Then check your application against the brief. If the advertiser wants short-form video, make sure a short-form example is easy to find. If the advertiser wants graphic design, show the relevant designs. This small amount of preparation can save you from sending many applications that never had a good chance. The goal is not to look perfect. The goal is to make it easy for the right business to say, βThis creator understands what we need.β
